Local farmer visit

8th Oct 2025

This morning we had a special visit from Mick McMullan to our school. He brought much excitement and hands on learning to our class today. The day began with a collaborative vegetable harvest, where the pupils got their gloves on and helped Mick in digging up the ripe potatoes, carrots and beetroot from our Science garden. He explained the importance of seasonal planting and tips on how to care for their crops. This harvest was all planted by our Eco club back in the Spring time. Under the shade of the schools trees, the farmer led a lively discussion about the different trees we have on the school grounds which were also planted by past pupils up to 15 years ago. The highlight of the visit was the unveiling of Farmer Mick’s New Holland tractor. The boys and girls loved the visit and getting to try out sitting up in the tractor. Every pupil in P1/2 goes home today with a little harvest bag of vegetables to eat for dinner. The visit left the children inspired and curious with muddy hands and bright smiles- a perfect blend of education and adventure. Thank you Mick McMullan. 🚜🚜🚜
