The Big Walk and Wheel Week (NI) is part of the UK‑wide Big Walk and Wheel challenge, the largest inter‑school walking, wheeling, scooting and cycling event in the country. Schools in Northern Ireland take part alongside the rest of the UK.
This morning we met at the chapel and made our way to school by walking, cycling or scooting. A brilliant start to the day — supporting sustainable travel, reducing our carbon footprint, and keeping our bodies and minds healthy. The event aims to:
- Promote health and wellbeing through daily active travel
- Improve air quality around schools
- Reduce congestion and carbon emissions
- Build independence, confidence, and social skills in children
- Support sustainable travel habits across communities
